Crossref Research Integrity v1

When a source changes,
the notice travels with it.

PeptideScanner checks DOI-backed publications used in supervised synthesis against a dated Crossref work snapshot. Publisher errata, corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, and reinstatements remain attributed source events—not silent edits or PeptideScanner judgments.

Bounded cohort

Every reviewed synthesis publication

Coverage is limited to PubMed sources explicitly selected for the 37 supervised syntheses. It does not yet cover all 1,447 public PubMed bibliography records.

Method and source boundary

How v1 works

Each accepted PubMed payload supplies the DOI-to-PMID link. PeptideScanner then validates the exact Crossref work DOI, retains the response SHA-256 and Crossref indexing instant, and normalizes only supported updated-by metadata. Repeated entries for the same notice are combined by DOI, type, label, and source while every distinct upstream date remains visible.

Crossref says its REST API exposes metadata deposited by members and trusted sources, including Retraction Watch. The Retraction Watch dataset is updated each working day, but its corrections and expressions-of-concern coverage is not comprehensive. PeptideScanner stores no Crossref abstracts and does not infer the substance or importance of a notice from metadata alone.
